Catholic Theology, Scripture Study

Catholic Commentary on Holy Scripture

CathCommOrchard1

CathCommOrchard1Hardcover – January 1, 1953.
by Bernard Orchard (Editor), Edmund F. Sutcliffe (Editor), Reginald C. Fuller (Editor), Ralph Russell (Editor), Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster (Foreword), 1,296 pages, plus maps. Some of the maps were carefully removed and laminated – useful for Bible study.

This is another one – like Steinmuellers’ Catholic Encyclopedia – that every serious Catholic should have. Commentary is based on the Douay-Rheims, but obviously one can follow along with any version.

Nine years of work went into this – this is not a “popular” work, but for serious Bible readers who will appreciate the immense value of this commentary. Don’t let any of the “post Vatican II” crowd fool you – some of the brightest minds in Scripture and Theology were on the committee that put this together.

CathCommOrchard2This book also covers Textual Criticism of the NT; Non-Catholic Higher Criticism; the Synoptic Problem; Jewish World in NT Times;  Pagan World in NY Times; The Person and Teaching  of Our Lord Jesus Christ; Christianity in Apostolic Times and the Life of St. Paul.

Everyone else on the internet is trying to get €90-100 or more for this book. My offer – €40.00 and it’s yours.
